24/7 Teach

UX/UI and Graphic Design Intern

As a Graphic Design and UX/UI intern at an education startup, I was able to create user friendly web pages and graphics that are consistent with brand styling.

My Contributions

Project Overview

  • UX Consultant

  • Improved Website Usability

  • Created Logos and Infographics

24/7 Teach is a startup company that aims "to be an education organization that ensures access to quality education for all, regardless of race, location, income, and access to technology."They offer online K-12 tutoring and virtual platforms for middle school, high school, and adult learning. During my internship, I assisted in promoting the "24/7 Learning Academy," an onsite alternative to traditional schools. My tasks included designing flyers, logos, infographics, and collaborating with the CEO to enhance the Learning Academy website's user experience.

Design Process

During the early stages of 24/7's Learning Academy, the CEO aimed to enhance website usability.

I consulted for 24/7, meticulously reviewing the Learning Academy website to identify usability issues. I observed problems like misleading information, suggested changes (e.g., adjusting text color to avoid confusion), and recommended solutions for simplifying content, such as using dropdowns to hide less relevant information and relocating certain content to different pages.

My consulting aimed to enhance the Learning Academy's homepage layout. I conducted A/B tests and industry research to determine the ideal page length and proposed reordering sections based on their importance.

Homepage layout redesign

I designed multiple materials for 24/7 Teach using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, ensuring consistency with the company's existing branding.

My initial task at 24/7 was naming a subsidary that brings in industry experts to teach classes virtually. After consulting with the CEO, we chose "Educator Elite" as the name. I then designed a logo featuring an apple with a crown, alongside 24/7's standard block text used in their logos. I created both light and dark grayscale versions of the apple for different background contexts.

During my internship, the Learning Academy at 24/7 introduced a drone camp, and I was responsible for designing a flyer to promote it. I followed the style of previous 24/7 flyers, maintaining consistent colors, typeface, and layout. The finalized "postcard-style" design was distributed in Orlando, where the camp was held.

I transformed 24/7's basic chart comparing traditional high schools to their Learning Academy into an infographic for improved visual appeal and reduced cognitive load through imagery. The infographic is now featured on the Learning Academy's about page

Outcomes

Interning at 24/7 Teach provided valuable experience in a startup environment. It honed my consulting skills with a real client, enhanced my Photoshop and Illustrator proficiency, and saw many of my recommendations and graphic designs implemented on the company's site and in marketing efforts. This experience has boosted my confidence and prepared me for the UX industry.
